Early works & power supply
Feasibility, geo-hazard and mineralogy assessments completed; about 60 km of 132 kV extension planned to five traction substations.
Utility relocation
Working with NWSC and UMEME; 17 conflict points with UETCL require line relocation.
Land acquisition
100 km of the 60 m corridor acquired and compensated; the RAP covers 82% of the route.
Design & harmonisation
Coordinating access roads, the JICA flyover and alignment with the Jinja–Kampala Expressway.
Financing secured
The Islamic Development Bank committed €650m, with a further €405m under discussion for the Eastern route.
Contractor engagement
EPC/turnkey contract signed with Yapı Merkezi and YM Global Projects Limited.
